They say there’s no book on parenthood (which seems silly to me, because there are actually tons of them). However, when it comes to biblical motherhood, the Bible serves as the ultimate guide. It truly does provide us invaluable insights into what constitutes a good and Godly mother.

As a Christian mom of four, I’ve felt an undeniable calling to nurture these precious children the way God would have me to, striving to exemplify the characteristics of what it means to be a good, Godly mother through biblical motherhood.

All too often, I’ve made the mistake of looking to social media to measure my worth as a mother, instead of God’s word.

I see these beautiful younger women caring for their young children so effortlessly without ever losing patience. And I often say “there’s no such thing”.

At the end of the day, we are just moms who love our children with our whole hearts, trying to be the best role models and set a good example in the best way we know how.

And I’m so thankful for God’s grace.

While I may never be a perfect mother, seeking wisdom and truth through his word has given me a good understanding of what a good, Godly mother and what Biblical motherhood looks like according to our heavenly father.

When we look at the characteristics of a good mother according to the Bible, a Godly mother is someone who strives to live out the principles of God’s word in her everyday life.

She’s a woman of faith, with a pure heart, who leans on God’s help and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead her in the right direction. Through her example, she teaches her children to love and honor God, passing on Godly values and morals that will shape their lives.

And let me just say, I know this isn’t always easy. We all have those days when we feel like we’re falling short, and that’s okay. I’ve been there so many times—wondering if I’m doing enough or if I’m even getting it right. But the beautiful thing about leaning on God’s help is that we don’t have to have it all figured out. His grace fills in the gaps where we fall short. It’s more about staying committed to living by His word and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide us as we go. Faithfulness

A good mom and Godly woman stays faithful to God’s Word. She puts her relationship with God first and does her best to live out His principles in her everyday life.

Proverbs 31:26 (ESV) says it perfectly: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” It shows just how much a mother’s faithfulness matters—not only in what she does but in the words she speaks to her children.

With wisdom grounded in her faith, she’s able to give her kids more than just good advice—she offers them guidance that lines up with the truths in God’s word.

At the end of the day, a mother’s faithfulness is at the core of the legacy she leaves, one that reaches far beyond her family and leaves a lasting impact.

When I’m feeling overwhelmed or unsure, I always find peace in knowing that I can bring my worries to God through prayer. It’s comforting to know He’s always listening and working on behalf of my family, even when I can’t see it right away.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

One of the biggest traits of a good mom is love, and honestly, it might be the most important thing.
